Anyone can look up Halstatt culture helmets, then later 3rd century BC Celtic helmets and compare them to Roman late Republic era helmets. It's obvious who influenced who. Greek and Macedonian helmets looked completely different as they were designed specifically for phalanx which Roman army has abandoned for more flexible formations around the early 3rd century BC specifically because they struggled with Cisalpine Gaul's Celts tribes.
Roman strength lied in their adaptability which basically meant stealing whatever they needed at the time. In case of armor - mostly from Celts, at least when talking about Roman Republic.
