Few men have such a strong impact on society for generations. Kellogg somehow achieved that, and all for negative reasons. Even all of Kellogg’s children hated him (for good reason, he probably poured acid on his daughters and circumcised his sons). Somehow the man started a major cereal brand, and people still regurgitate his medical mumbo jumbo to this day.
People still regurgitate Kellogg’s theories about circumcision curing disease and preventing illness. Theories that are based in the sensory excitation theory for disease (as opposed to germ theory, what we believe now). Kellogg believed that pleasure, including sexual pleasure, was the root of all disease, which is a laughable idea for even back then. Imagine eating a piece of rotten meat, getting sick, and your doctor blaming it on masturbation. Makes no fucking sense, and, yet, Kellogg was so deranged and indoctrinated that this how he thought his whole life.
I wonder when people regurgitate Kellogg talking points if they realize the pseudo-science they’re unknowingly spouting. They’re basically saying they don’t believe in germs or bacteria. In a Kellogg worldview, washing your hands shouldn’t work. It’s cumming that makes you sick, not hygiene. If you never masturbated, you’d never get sick and probably live forever, according to Kellogg. Utterly fucking deranged. How did people, even back then, fall for this?
For context, Kellogg was a 7th Day Adventist, a cult full of crazy stupid wackos that exist today. You can truly make someone believe anything if you shove it down their throats their whole life.
