The mesopotamians and greeks had similar myths but in those there was a God (Prometheus in greek mythology, Enki in the mesopotamian myths) who countered the main God (Zeus in greek mythology and Enlil in mesopotamian mythology) and let some humans survive but the human was still forced to make a sacrifice to the main God to appease him.
