Is the eastern front belittled by western historians?
I genuinely do not recall hearing much about it, but heard all about D-Day and how we sent the Germans running.

It never happened. Nazis took Moscow and then lied and said they didn't so the war would continue. Had Nazis declared they took Moscow the war would end there.
Instead they did nothing for two years and then surrendered. Hence illogical change of sides and momentum across the war.
Ultimately, the rotschilds are to blame for everything. America kept the Soviet bureaucracy alive and waited out the Nazis, who died of meth, and that ended the war.

Because the Soviets were not a very heroic people. They are like the Mamluks during the later period of the crusading era, committing very heinous crimes in "revenge".

It probably partly has to do with geography and national memory as well. I am from Bulgaria and the Western powers basically don't figure in the historical memory of any WW2 story I hear. It's all about Germany and the Soviet Union. D-Day and the Italian campaign aren't even mentioned. The only American action that is remembered is the bombing of Sofia.

Germans deserved it. Everything the Soviets did to the Germans the German did in the Soviet Union on a larger scale

sorta, it's just one of those low points in humanity that had no real winners.
the germans did commit unfathomable atrocities in the east but the soviets returned the favor.
the soviets died in meat waves, this is more or less true
both sides participated in scorched earth
lots of children died
lots of rape happened

pacific theater also isn't talked about because it was not glamorous.

But that doesn't actually mean that it's worthy of praise or even justifiable. Soviet soldiers condemned themselves to the lesser status in history when they lowered themselves to the level of the Germans.

Tankies in the West will frequently cite that the USSR won singlehandedly because they died by the millions, and it's generally accepted that Stalingrad was the turning point of the war.

yes lmao, despite the screeching of /pol/trannies. most of the foundational works on the eastern front in english were literally written by nazi generals after the war, and the few bits written by actual westerners had to comply with cold war era politics that forbid presenting the soviets in a good light. since the soviets objectively won the war in europe, this meant you couldn't really talk about the east much at all.
and for the americans, it was especially important to present the US as the savior of the world to justify becoming the dominant imperial power. we weren't subjecting europe as vassals, we were continuing our noble mission to save them from oppression, now soviet rather than nazi.
