Mamluks did not wear armor, this is a fact, any historical account or depiction would confirm it. So why do people lie and say that Mamluks were "heavy cavalry", they were light lancers and horse archers.

The horsemen in the drawing look like Balkan cavalry, one of the shields even have a Byzantine cross

Turkish Mamluks = Light infantry gunners, would only don armour for siege operations, mainly from the Balkans
Egyptian&Syrian Mamluks = Heavy Cavalry, mainly from Turkic and Eurasian stock
