Especially in LA, the wealthy/upper middle class controls the entire political system and essentially stifles any economic growth they don't like just to maintain a suburban growth supported by 5'2 Mexican immigrants working every single manual labor job while blacks, second generation Hispanics, and white trash work undesirable retail/service jobs. I was only there for one day so I don't have a full picture but it didn't seem bad at all. Barely saw homeless or junkies. I'm thinking they must have cleaned the place up quite a bit because I was staying right by the edge of the Tenderloin and it was surprisingly clean. I live downtown in San Diego and there's a fuckload of homeless here. You can't walk a block around here without seeing one. Maybe they segregate them better in SF, I don't know.
