Has any species in History had such rapid growth in population in a short time? How did it end up for them

We've got the worst of both worlds because birth rates are now collapsing, meaning that the later part of this century is going to be defined by masses of eldery people with no-one to support them. Then, things get even worse, because the labour market will be small, which will push up wages and therefore production prices.

2 - aliens sent human seeds to earth millenia ago
