Why do atheists look down on Islam and treat it as an irrelevant second rate religion? This insults me and it feels like a remnant of colonialism. Muslims were Roman emperors for almost 500 years. If that's not culturally relevant then I don't know what is.

Why do we bother against our Abrahamic brothers instead of God's ordained enemies, the Tartars, Gog and Magog?

Western liberals basically see muslims as "poor, oppressed, backwards, incompetent idiots" because of the Western European empires. To them, the thought of muslims conquering christians is unthinkable, because they're historically illiterate and only go on most recent events.

You will never be seen as "equal" to them. You will always be seen as an oppressed, backwards retard. Which is both good and bad. Because you won't earn their respect, but they will shield you from the people who hate you, and they will also underestimate you.

One group of westerners (right wing) hates you as a corruptive force, the other (left wing) sees you as oppressed weaklings. Both are rooted in colonialism and neither respect you. Do with that what you will.

It kind of is, in the western world. In the west it is barely practiced outside of ghettos (and even there is mostly superficial aside from fundie browncels). It 'resolved' all of it's disputes with rationalism by enforcing Kalam by force so it has no polemical or discursive power. Its outreach organs are weak and pathetic. And it's only serious representatives in the world stage right now are towel-wearing screeching extremists in Durkastan.

I do not think that many atheists recognize the titles of Ottoman empire, to be honest. But that was also 200 years ago at most. Islam (as a political/cultural force) has been on the downturn since Napoleon's expedition to Egypt.
Ironically, the actual religion has grown and consolidated a lot because of European colonialism, which only makes its complete inertness more apparent and appaling.

Atheists view Christianity as something they had to try to take down. But with Islam, you don't even have to try. The prophet was a pedo rapist bandit warlord and the religion is enforced entirely through violence. It crumbles completely under any intellectual scrutiny. There isn't even any tradition in the west you can draw upon. It's just seen as the religion of backwards inbreds, because well, that's what it is.
