How did a few hundred Normans manage to beat the Italians, the Arabs and the Romans all at the same time?
Only thing that gets anywhere close is the spanish conquests of america and there they had thousands of native allies at every step and faced enemies armed with sharp rocks.

They fought against the Saracens, the Neapolitans and the Greeks. They never fought against the Romans/Papacy as far as I know, unless you talk about these era the Kings of Sicily were Holy Roman Emperors but that came up later.

The last few decades we had people who were de facto non-religious but who officially identified as Catholic. They would appear as Catholic in official data, but they were not really. Right now, those people (and others) are coming back to the Church.

Where did you get the idea they went 1v3?
The normans started as mercs for the longobards while arabs and byzantines fought each other, quickly betrayed their employers, and then after the byzs got kicked out went 1v1 against very exhausted arabs.
