Can I be catholic or orthodox and venerate a statue of Thor?

Catholic - sure. They do that anyway with their saints. EO may be more tricky.

Veneration is independent of worship, so you could do this in basically any Christian sect except the most fundamentalist ones or iconoclasm.

If Thor was real, wouldn't he have done something about his faith completely disappearing outside of some meme larpers?

I have an old copy of the lives of the saints that lists thorstein as a saint name. even gives an explanation of its meaning, "Thor's Stone"

theres also a saint Thorlak, which means "Thor's Game" or "Thor's Offering", or the most simple translation, "Thor-like"

Idk anon, seems pretty cut and dry?

Protestants do not "venerate" which is just Catholic doubletalk for worship.

I dunno, did he ever transform into animals for no reason or hurl thunderbolts at his enemies?

tbf, its a practical double think.

To acknowledge worldly merit while also admitting its comparative negligence in the infinite is a practical stance.

Thor is YHWH (the son)
Odin is YHWH (the father)
The Valkaries are YHWH (the holy spirit)

The issue is not veneration itself bu who it is aimed at. In any event, catholics have no standards so it's just another god in their pantheon.
