He had no choice but to sign the civil rights one because anything else would be an optics L and a PR win for the Soviets.

A fuckton of immigrants were already in by then. All the migration restrictions were basically pointless most of Europe was either staying in Europe or would have been barred if the law was kept or enchanced.

Why did the Soviet Union make a big deal out of "western" racism but then persecute minority populations regardless?

The better question is why didn't the Western Bloc know about (or bother to point out) the Soviet persecutions of minorities.

Because the west actually cares about hypocrisy, while Russia is totally shameless and a culture of liars. The USSR could accuse the USA of racism and ethnic cleansing while committing the same atrocities itself and not feel the slightest twinge of embarrassment. In Russia, being able to lie with impunity is a traditional right of the powerful.

Explain, I think all of these were great pieces of legislation that transformed america for the better. Also every criticism of the 1965 INA I've seen always someone complaining about something that was already in the law before that. Prior to 1924 the US had essentially open borders except for east asians, and after 1924 there were no quotas for people from latin america.

The retarded Warren court decisions related to race destroyed the US way more than the civil rights act. All the civil rights act did was say you had to serve a nigger a hamburger if he came into your diner. The Supreme Court literally originated the “access to white people is a human right” meme.

Blacks make up a smaller share of the population today than they did during Brown v. Board of Education. Immigration was actually partially responsible for this as it brought in more Mexicans if anything

Are you not aware of title VII of the civil rights act? It made it illegal to make employment decisions related to hiring, firing or promotion on the basis of race, religion, national origin, or sex. Anyone can sue their employer over this, and if liability is found the employer not only has to pay lost wages and punitive damages for the employee's humiliation, but they also have to pay the plaintiff's lawyer fees. This has been absolutely transformative to employment, and is a much bigger reason for why the civil rights act is a turning point in US history, compared to the part of the law that ended segregation in private restaurants and hotels.

>Are you not aware of title VII of the civil rights act? It made it illegal to make employment decisions related to hiring, firing or promotion on the basis of race, religion, national origin, or sex
you see this is also grossly unconstitutional. why?

>the CRA was notionally supposed to be a means of enforcing the 14th Amendment
>BUT the 14th Amendment was meant to bar the state from racially discriminatory laws, that was all
>it did not and was never intended to cover any of the other items

The civil rights act was justified through the commerce clause of article 1, not the 14th amendment. It is not at all a legal stretch to say that banning private sector employment discrimination is an exercise of congress' power to regulate interstate commerce in the way it is a stretch to say that regarding banning discrimination in private restaurants and hotels.

The voting rights act is justified using section 5 of the 14th amendment though.

Yes, there were tens of millions of people like mexicans and jews and italians an irish and slavs in the US which should have been deported, but the US government took the states' right to deport them away in the 1890's. So from the 1890's to the 1960's all these people were coming into the US and many were not officially becoming citizens and living their entire lives out in inner city slums. The hidden provision in hart cellar was the mass amnesty of all these people through the illegal application of the 14th amendment. then all of these people were given the right to fast track immigrate their entire families to the US despite them not actually being legal citizens.

LBJ destroyed the entire US

oh and the reason they weren't citizens was because they interest the US illegally and didn't qualify for citizenship. This is why today the US government is still giving illegals the 14th amendment anchor baby treatment despite illegally immigrating definitely disqualifying you for citizenship because you're a criminal

not even that, the CRA was based off the absurd Wickard ruling that anything that could theoretically impact interstate commerce could be regulated. Barry Goldwater quite correctly pointed this out that Congress did not have the authority to force privately owned businesses to desegregate.

>how dare people have rights
Anonymous No.18153155 [Report]
It's crazy how Roosevelt/Kennedy/Johnson and all the other New Dealers/Great Society, etc were able to blend in a cocktail all the rights and needs of the individual, capitalism, and society as a whole. They synthesized everything into a miraculous ambrosia that took the positives of each of those, and left out all the negatives. In any other time period/era their leadership and the vast change that happened in the USA in just 10 short years would be miraculous, but because it also involved a positive thing for blacks, stormweenies will pretend it was the worst thing ever. This utopia was literally eaten up and vommited back out by neocons and ultra capitalist in the 70s and 80s, and everything since then has slowly gone to shit. We could have been in a Atomic utopia but now we are forced to obey Zuckerberg and social media demons

At least some of these people are quite clear they would rather live in a mud hut than a modern society as long as all the other mud huts were inhabited by white people.Which makes since because their perfered policies have more in common with an African dictatorship than American or European democracy. The only real difference is white people instead of black.

Wasn't he in charge of something literally called Operation Wetback?

Studies show that the vast majority of Mexican-Americans trace their roots not to Mexicans who immigrated during the 50s, but those who came during the 80s after Reagan gave them amnesty

Johnson was probably the most ontologically evil president.
Lots of evidence to suggest he was killing his local rivals even back when he was a Texas politician.
Faked a boat attack in the Gulf of Tonkin to get Americans to die in Vietnam.
Allowed a real attack on the USS Liberty just a few years later, covered it up when it failed.
Then there’s the elephant in the room being his former boss, Kennedy, dying under mysterious circumstances.

Some presidents are tempted into evil. Johnson woke up and choose evil.
