lightness as a sign of attractiveness/femininity is tens of thousands of years old. The dominance of lighter asians over dark asians is an earlier attempt to Yakub up some white people, a highly successful attempt I might add. It was only surpassed by the genuine article whose color emerged from northern primitives before being stolen by other races. It's a desirable characteristic, that's a genuine unpleasant truth of the world. If you want to go further, you could speculate on the reason people want it, the emotional implications.
