The Backbone of Battlefield Might
>>5038585>>5038586You deserve to be castrated for these filenames.
Why were the Shermans so visually unappealing and so hard on the eyes. Obnoxious.
>>5040104The goofy looking hull is the result of using a radial engine without a transfer case, causing the driveshaft to intrude into the central compartment and forcing the turret to be mounted higher.
The U.S. could have and should have adopted the sleeker M10 style hull with angled armor but just stuck with the M4's archaic hull design even after more conventional engines were used.
>>5039926I have a strange fascination with stuck tanks.
It demonstrates how dense and heavy they are that they just get swallowed up by the earth sometimes.

Anyone interested in German tanks and the Tigers in particular should read tank ace Otto Carius' memoir. Really interesting stuff, there are a lot of armchair generals that like to talk about the good and bad of panzers but it's good to get the perspective of someone who lived and fought in them for years. Tigers were a lot more reliable than most people claim and were generally beloved by their crews, while the later King Tigers and Panthers were much less so. Probably their biggest flaw in the crews' opinions was that the batteries tended to lose charge and not be able to start the engine if it stalled, forcing them to bump start it by being pushed by another tank, or far worse, get out and crank it by hand or hook it to a tow vehicle.
The Tigers in this photo are early models, later models had the cupola hatch designed to open to the side instead of upwards to make it less obvious that the hatch was open.
Lots of chud infestation ITT.
>>5040421The danger is that the turret can be damaged. Then it's over and it needs to be repaired elsewhere in a depot.

>>5039387As with everything that has any soul - battleships, cavalry, airships, dogfight aircraft. Make the most gay shit possible and it will dominate the battlefield. This is the golden rule of war.
