/dtg/ - Drawing Tablet General
Why you should not trust youtube shills:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VH1WEYF8rlA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Twy5Wo8m284

Do not worry pressure levels. 1024 is more than enough.
Remember to ignore all chinese shills. They often post paid twitter promos from random artists. It's all shilling, ignore it.

Recommended tablets:

>Screenless:
Used Intuos 3, 4, 5, Pro, One by Wacom

>Display:
Small (10-11"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Medium (12-16"): Samsung Galaxy Tab S8/S9 Ultra, used iPad Pro 12.9" Gen 1-5
Large (22"+): Cintiq 22, Cintiq Pro 27

Avoid:

>XP-Pen, Huion, Gaomon and every other Chinese brand making Wacom imitations
Poor build quality, pens with wavy lines, wobbly nibs, broken tilt, issues registering light pressure, terrible customer support, uncalibrated displays. All Chinese brands have the same problems. Check out the webm to understand how bad they are.
Do not be fooled by myths like "Chink companies are just as good as Wacom now" - they've been saying this for over 10 years, nothing has changed.
Chinese companies have also been proven to shill on 4chan. You will see dozens upon dozens of posts in this thread by a chinese schizo shill, who will either be bitching about the OP, gaslighting as a Wacom fan, making pointless spam posts or giving terrible advice (like recommending Huion). Just ignore and report him.

>New iPads
Massively overpriced and overhyped.

>Microsoft Surface Pro
More optimized for palm rejection than good quality drawing. Wobbly lines when drawing slow and straight.

>Cintiq 13-16"
Completely outclassed by the Galaxy Tab Ultra & iPad

>Cintiq Pro 16, 24, 32
Overpriced, QC issues, loud fans, proprietary mount interface

>Lenovo
Worse than Samsung in every way.

OP does not own a tablet nor does he draw.
If you actually use this thread to seek consumer related advice, you are literally retarded and deserve whatever dogshit schizophrenic drivel or obvious shill shit you are fed down your throat.
The majority of the posts you will see in these threads are just bumps to save the thread from falling off page 10 or just troll info.

All chinese tablets are cheaply made garbage. All of them are prone to failure, have non-existent support, line inconsistency, pressure inconsistency, nib wobble, non-existent calibration.
A Huion is not a valid alternative to a Samsung on any planet. It is a vastly inferior product and a reliability nightmare. A complete waste of space and money.

To anyone reading, avoid Huion and XP-Pen at all costs. Don't fall for the scam. They are genuinely awful pieces of trash, and destined for landfill.

okay I decided on getting a 11~12inch tablet
I'm between the Huion frego M and the HS611
supposedly the frego has a better pen but, does that really affects in any way or is it just snake oil?
I wonder about things the OP and >>7770330
say, is that really the case? I've never tried any other drawing tablet besides the one I have that was the cheapest huion I could find back in the day and I've been quite happy with it besides the size
attached pic is a quick scribble going from pressing soft to hard and stuff, no stabilization, no curve pressure, no nothing, be honest dudes, how bad is it?

not sure about endavaourOS but if its a huion that was released last year or something should work out of the box, specially if on kde+wayland, not even driver required

Are there any display tablets that doesn't leave you glued to the wall outlets?
Anonymous No.7776174 [Report]
>>7776162
if you have the right USB-C cable and USB-C port, some modern ones can power and display the screen at full brightness with one cable. some need 2 cables, 1 for data and an extra USB for full power & brightness, but no wall outlet.

Can confirm that the Dell Canvas operates without issue on WIndows 11. For those who want a cheaper Wacom 27" you can get one used for very cheap since they don't make them anymore. It uses older Wacom tech, so universal Wacom pens will work with it no problem. Pair that with the Canvas' adjustable stand, external monitors, and a shortcut key remote, and you got an endgame setup.

How important/convenient are shortcut buttons on a screenless tablet? I can get a One by Wacom Medium (216 x 135 mm) for cheap but it has no buttons except the 2 on the pen.

some people use them, other never do. No one will give you the answer fitting your workflow. I much prefer keyboard, or another separate device with keys.

keyboard/key pad/remote control is way more convenient and ergonomic
none of the tablets have enough buttons and they are often placed in an awkward position.

Personally for my Ipad I've been using an 8bitdo, the stupid small one
No issues other than the shortcut I made for brush sizes in Procreate just not working. I assume it's a Procreate issue with the thing handling the specific keys in a way that the keyboard mode of the controler dooesn't do. For Clip Studio it just works and if it doesn't I can just go to the settings and change the shortcut

I've been using screenless for two years and i still feel I haven't gotten used to it.
Or maybe im just bad at drawing, but it feels slippery and I can't really make proper lines with my hand.
I dont even know at this point.

tape paper to the surface for more friction

as the other anon said paper can help with stabilizing your line, another tips i can mention is to use stabilizer and rotate your canvas, some angles are just impossible to draw cleanly without rotating

So wacom movinkpad 14 came, here is photo with my 13 inch ipad air m2. Screen - another league compared to air, much nicer colors, device feels super fast despite M2 wining in benchmarks due to faster refresh rate. Wacom pens feels somehow very cheap, apple pencil is heavier, with paperlike screen protector offers more feedback yet i had no problems with using wacom pen, almost immediately every line felt like i was using it for a week or two. Wish it had more resistance tho, tried switching nibs and there is 3 types included, almost no difference for my. i was worried about screen aspect ratio but its almost same height as ipad, with more width, more space for tools. Battery life looks to be ok, lack of fingerprint scanner is anoying, speakers are trash. And in Nomad sculpt touching screen with wacom pen crashes app

its stock android with few things from wacom, they seems to be balls deep into CSP so things like wacom app for drawing have CSP integration, also they gave you 1 year of CSP. It have stock android file system so you can transfer files where you want.
>>7779600
i think screen is sourced from samsung galaxy tab ultra series, same size, this width is perfect for me, i can get toolbar on left, small window with reference and have space for drawing, with ipad that small window with reference was too much for that screen size. But i have to admit, 4:3 with 15inch would be nice

pen "hovering" - pen draw itself after you end drawing line. Its common issue with pw100 pen and other non wacom tech pens; my broke after 1 month of usage, so im struggle with it until self repair.

Demonstarion of issue (non my): https://m.youtube.com/shorts/A8p8Uhb3MSU

Also its soo anoying what all tablet reviews soo shilled everywhere, find real one its almost impossible all nuances is silenced like:
"surface is paper like" - buy 30Db earmuffs and 100+ plastic tips lol (you can beat that jewish move with separate surface or polyester glass surface/a4 sheet)

"compact pen" - pen too thin, hello RSI

tails at end of strokes, whach closelly how he draw line 7:00-7:10 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WXvc_GneF3A&pp=ygULZ2FvbW9uIG0xMGs%3D
- fucked presure sensitivity + guaranted diagonal woobles

"cool desing 10+99999 buttons" - there is no good points so here some uselles buttons for you, goy

"10-45 degree tablet angle" - hello RSI (like in new wacom intuios or whatever 2025

"usb-c in on top of tablet" - easy to broke

"you can configure pressure curve 4 yourself" - fucked pressure curve, hello RSI

bad polyester surface (hello xencelabs aka UGEE for 200$) - another planned obsolence, use polyester sheet

You can use transparent plastic glass (PMMA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poly(methyl_methacrylate) that Walmart or any other store uses for holding paper price tags, (you can glue with electrical tape or glue) OR use official one / transparent screen protector for tablets (be aware if texture of tablet is "paper like" sceen protector will not be glued (!))
