a question to thirdies
what's with people stealing phones in third world countries?
phones can be quite pricey I get that but what can you do with someone's phone? you can't sell it because you have no box, no papers, no charger etc, also it's easy to locate a stolen phone and someone might check the imei number and then the thief is fucked

lol there are markets selling "used phones" that are obviously stolen, police don't give a shit.
I understand that newer phones are harder to unlock so I don't know how they deal with that.

There's nothing they can do about it even if they track it down. Whatchu gonna do? Go to a thieves den and get stabbed? Report to the police? You're a nobody. They won't even entertain you unless you're a big shot. Getting robbed doesn't happen to the rich unless they get scammed, that's when the authorities do "raids". But to the regular Joe, it's learn from experience.

Most phones have one click tools to unlock them even iPhones, but the iCloud account is impossible to remove.

They'd wipe them and resell, if they're connected enough they could sell it at one of those used electronics shops so it looks more legitimate
Depending on the country too it could be that they're stealing from tourists who will be out of the country soon and can't spend too long trying to track down their phone

They send most of them to a single street in Shenzhen, China. You can go there and STILL see people's old photos on the lock screens sometimes kek

would they behave differently if you'd bribed them? if so, how much of the phone's value would be adequate for them to care?

no if it's an android

>you can't sell it because you have no box, no papers, no charger etc,
you don't directly sell it to a customer. you sell them to a fence or your friends who already knew that you're a thief. unless you want to get beaten up by the same victim if you're post it yourself on the marketplace like facebook forum

>someone might check the imei number and then the thief is fucked
no such thing and never happened
