It's a tornado active part of the region. And there were some tornados documented. And by the trace it definitely doesn't look like bad soil. Look at all of the fallen trees and directions.

ok, didn't see the trees, you might have a point

however, I will note that often a very bad rainstorm can cause whole stretches of forest to fall down like that, it happened here last year. we got like 2 months' worth of rainfall in a single night along with moderate wind and a thunderstorm, huge swathes of forest got felled all over the country.

We've had one F4 in Russia. Maybe more than one, but these others big ones happened when these scales haven't existed. Last year we've had one F3.

Well, I was born here, so I can't really get it. The unsettling thing to me is to see some regions of Russia with not much water around aside some little swamps and tiny rivers. It feels kinda suffocating.
Also the closest sea to me by a direct line is in ~1100 km. And it's basically the Arctic ocean.

This region feels like that zoomer liminal spaces backrooms horror stuff to me because it looks like our countryside, more or less, but it just stretches on forever and ever and ever and ever

here if you drive for a couple hours you run into the sea or a border. the countryside always ends. but not there. it just goes on. it should end, according to my intuition but... it doesn't.

Most of them, yes. But it's just because our country is vast. But F4, F3 happened in quite inhabited area. Both around Moscow area.
I guess maybe there were more F4 and F3 ones, but the scale measures the damage dealt firstly. So if it destroyed some forest, you cannot tell much of how powerful it was.
