This also just takes total incomes divided by people, which will be skewed due to rich people from Hollywood, tech companies, finance, etc. The average person is much worse off if you view median income and adjust for cost of living differences.
When you compare these two, 1965 Californian households had twice the purchasing power of 2025. It’s even worse when you realize a household in 1965 averages 1.1-1.3 incomes, while 2025 is closer to 2 due to many households relying on just men working.
