How do Germans cope with the fact that the most important & influential city in the German-speaking world, isn't in Germany.
>inb4 Jew York
By almost every relevant metric, London is just as economically, culturally & politically influential as NYC, if not slightly more so.

Austria was consciously cut from Germany, as was Prussia, to punish it for its loss in WW2.

Idk how one can cope with that. How does Japan cope with being nuked twice? How does Britain cope with being reduced to 1% of its former territory and influence? You just try to ignore the pain.

I think you're a little confused little brit, we like to joke about Berlin not being part of Germany but that isn't actually the case

And no, while *historical* Vienna was indeed the center of German-speaking high culture, *contemporary* Vienna is just as much of a cultural blackhole as any other German city. Europe stopped producing relevant culture and media some time after the 1990s.

the Austrians even consciously tried to avoid the Anschluss in the 30's by instating their own clero-fascist dictator who they fought could stand with Hitler in Mussolini as an ally. But he was assassinated by local Nazis.

Definitely doesn't apply to us. Not to sound arrogant, but we're still pretty culturally relevant for a country of our size.

Austria is still German(or would be without mass migration) so it's not really comparable to the Prussian situation.
Although the modern Austrian identity is a bit controversial, but historically it definitely would be German.
