If the Soviet Union had never collapsed in 1991, what would the world be like today?
>>211720988 (OP)Russia would be an authoritarian shithole that tries to subjugate it's neighbours
Iphones would be made in USSR instead of Made in China.
Japan would be the #1 economy, I think political rivalry between the USA and USSR allowed them to thrive as a Cold War scenario would mean China is out of the world economy.
It would unironically be a safer place, America being the one superpower for 30 years with nobody to keep them in check has been a disaster for the legitimacy of internationalism, world peace, and the life of the average working class person here in the West.
>But China
They're not in the business of going toe to toe with us like the Soviets were
>>211721162The USSR didn't have hundreds of millions of cheap workers like China had.
>>211721194Japan would've still collapsed due to their rampant real estate speculation and Plaza Accord
>>211721310It had a sizeable population still and unlike China a very developed infrastructure and industrial sectors as well a highly educated population so they had a huge head start.
>>211721314They still had an edge in microelectronics that they lost to Chinese companies.
People used to buy Toshiba laptops, now they buy Lenovo instead.
>>211721599It was, at one point the Imperial Palace was worth more than the entire state of California.
>>211721733That was bound to happen sooner or later as China developed, can't compete with an industrialized educated country ten times as populous as you
>>211721599>>211721875Watch Princes of Yen if you haven't, its a great insight into how Central Banking and American liberalism can just destroy an economy if it steps out of line

>>211721904Not in a world where the USSR is a unified economic and military bloc, it would be too dangerous.
>>211721975Read "The Japan that can say No", Japanese focus on industrial capacity instead of playing what the author called money games.
>>211721261I mean, that's just unregulated capitalism. Employers can abuse their workers without fear of them defecting to the commies.
>>211722742Capitalism will always deregulate itself in the pursuit of profit, its baked into the system
>>211721310It had 300 million people by 1990 and at one time twice the population of the US.
