My understanding it that the ancestor of every American was an immigrant at some point. Many of them were not British. But still, they adapted. Now, when we have all this globalization, Internet and Hollywood, it's a lot easier to become an American compared to the past. Still challenging for the first generation because of the language skills, but not really challenging for the secondary generation.
> You probably arent AmericanThat's true. I am fresh off the boat white Eastern European immigrant (legal, work visa, software developer).
> There is plenty wrong with changing the demographics of a state from being 90% white in the 50s and 60s to being filled with hispanics, etc. That's true it has changed. But having lived in California, I don't really see the difference between white Americans, and non-white Americans except for the skin tone which you can't control.
> Compare the disparity between 2025 USA, India, Mexico, GuatemalaBeing an immigrant myself I'm sort of familiar with the immigration to the USA in general. The truth is that legal immigration system in the US is extremely complicated. So rich western Europeans do not migrate because they are already doing well, and there's little incentive to go through the immigration hurdles. The ones who migrate are either poor, or have instability in their country (like me). That the natural rule of thumb why people migrate in the first place.
I realize I'm just a guest here so far so I'm just humbly sharing my perspective. It's been great to learn your point of view. I wish we could have a couple of beers together.
