As a native speaker of your language and not a second languager: Do you find your language to sound cool or is it just "ok yeah whatever"?

It's beautiful when beautifully used.

ASPIRAÇÃO

Ser palmeira! existir num píncaro azulado,
Vendo as nuvens mais perto e as estrelas em bando;
Dar ao sopro do mar o seio perfumado,
Ora os leques abrindo, ora os leques fechando;

Do dia ouvir, nascendo o primeiro arrebol,
Que invisível ascende e vai falar ao sol;

Sentir romper do vale e a meus pés, rumorosa,
Dos rios, onde luz todo o esplendor do Oriente;

E penetrar nos céus;

E a distendo, a subir num caule, fibra a fibra;

E, esfolhando-me ao vento, indômita e selvagem,
Quando aos arrancos vem bufando o temporal,
- Poeta - bramir então à noturna bafagem
Meu canto triunfal!

E o eco que têm no oceano as borrascas tremendas;

The alexandrine is the second most celebrated meter in the Portuguese language and the single most celebrated in the French one.
Metrically speaking, the poem is perfect.

I find it very boring
Yeah we have some nasal diphthongs but they aren't that rare and don't sound as cool as front rounded vowels (like the french u, eu and german ü, ö)
If my native language was a meme language (with front rounded vowels) spoken here I'd be happier

That's a very personal taste of yours that's not taken seriously or even thought of by the majority of poets.
Rhymes weren't used in Antiquity because Latin and Greek have many cases, therefore many similar endings, but have been used in Romance languages, and in many others, for a thousand years or more. Besides, rhymes are not a part of meter. Meter has to do with the measure of the verse, which in Portuguese and other romance languages means the number of syllables. The meter would remain perfect even the rhymes were terrible (they're not).
