Smed/Schmidt -> Faber/Fabricius
Kolding -> Collin
Broby -> Pontoppidan
etc..
We even have 1700s comedy poking fun of the trend (Ludvid Holberg's Erasmus Montanus)
in 1600s 1700s Latin was cool. and names associated with German nobility too
in this period few cared about Vikings
