I was honestly surprised when I moved to a white-ish neighborhood and white people were doing that.

Yes. It isn’t a great piece of equipment, but it’s a dryer (as opposed to a combination washer-dryer, which are very uncommon in this country, but are found in other parts of Europe, and I’ve never heard anyone express satisfaction with them).

For many fabrics, air-drying is much less damaging (although fading in the sun is a potential risk), and in warm weather it’s often faster. We have a dryer, but we also hang some stuff on a rack (usually indoors for us, but out in the sun for some stuff, when weather permits. There are all sorts of justifications for laundry lines that appeal to white people, even if they’ve got money.

Dryers are bad for most high quality clothes. I only ever use mine for underwear and stuff I don't wear outside.

Doesn't look like an HOA neighborhood- looks like an older neighborhood. Houses seem a bit older, and have front porches, trees are mature, intersections are 90 degree, chain link fences, this neighborhood was likely developed prior to WW2.

The street also strikes me as a city street, not an HOA owned street.

I don't know about German apartments but ours have proper ventilation.
Zero mold in my home.
Humidity always at 45% with my humidifier on. If I turn it off the humidity drops to 25-30% and my lips start chapping.

It depends on the insulation. Having warm walls will keep the humidity in the air. With shit insulation, the cold walls will condensate the water and mold will appear fast.
