>>211804606 (OP)I am actually, my sister’s boyfriend works at the city’s archives and he found stuff about our family from the first half of the 1700’s.
apparently my nobleman ancestor was in the business of shipping and sales of textiles, his first wife died young so he remarried, taking for wife a 20 year old, when he was like 50-something (idk if we descend from the first or second, it didn’t say) there was also an address of residence and I found out that building is still named after my family.
my mum’s side is also nobility, her great grandpa and his brother owned steamships or big sailboats, can’t remember which, and operated a lucrative sea route. there is a well known story in the family about her great-great uncle squandering the entire family fortune in casinos in Montecarlo, he never married and my mum says he was probably gay. both brothers were big donors to the city’s university and their stone busts are still on display at the faculty of medicine to this day.
note that this stuff means fuck all in todays republic of Italy.
