I don't stay in Barcelona. I just go there for las Ramblas and site seeing in general. I'm aware of the housing situation and it's university city, so there is obviously a problem with Air B&Bs.

I allways go to Empuriabrava or St.Margarit in Roses to do vacations. These are pure tourist vilages and you can enjoy the Dolmen , druid stones, track biking in the Pyrinees. or just the place and beach. Yet the fishmarket allways closes way to early.
Everytime I go there I discover new stuff. It's great. And just a short car trip to Barcelona!

Yet my daughter prefers Calella right next to L'loret de mar. As a base for teh vacation...for obvious reasons.
