In peripheral ranch colonies (Venezuela's Bolivar, Argentina's San Martin). Our independence heroes aren't many, since most people here didn’t want independence, but the most remembered are indios, probably because they are more numerous.
Our most celebrated hero wasn’t a leader, though, it was Jose Olaya, a humble indio who swam to deliver secret letters. Our best-known proceres were indios too, Túpac Amaru II and Bastidas Puyucahua. Then there were also royalist indios who switched sides, like the Inca aristocrat Mateo Pumacahua, a former enemy of Amaru II.
