Swedes have in recent centuries only been a conquering, colonizing force against the Baltic, the Finns and the Norwegians, as well as practicing eugenics against the Sami and practicing racial biology. Not to mention their "neutrality" during WW2, where they cooperate with Germany and let them march troops through Sweden so they could defeat Norway. All in all, this puts them in a position of asking themselves "What period of Sweden's history should I be proud of?".
