In all seriousness though, they kinda 'ruined' my favorite cafe. There was a place near my uni, a coffee+tea place, pretty cheap, good quality tea and coffee, good desserts and sandwiches. It had that lazy comfy vibe, old greasy torn apart furniture and stuff like that.
Now I came in and they changed their name, brought in new furniture, cleaned everything, got rid of the old comfy unshaven staff and hired some rich looking niggas, added a fuckin menu and a kitchen. The coffee and tea prices and quality are still good though, and the desserts look alright. But it lost that comfy vibe suited for people like me and now it has the vibe for late 20s rich girls wannabe non-normies but in reality the havers of mid taste

Sorry let me correct myself I didn't mean 'poor people' I meant normies. Because many students used to visit this place and students tend to be quite poor as well.

Also similar shit happened to the kalmyk bar but that's because they were busted by the tax collectors and were forced to renovate and introduce a card machine. (They only used to accept payment in mobile transphers)
But it kinda made them better. Before it used to be a gloomy place where they never had all the beer on tap due to constant supplier issues, the bartenders could just tell you to fuck off, some zesty bear could just grope your cog etc etc. Now they have more lights, all the beer on tap, the bartender is more chill, and people now behave. Luckily the audience didn't change and you still feel there like in some sort of grimdark cyberpunk illegal bar in the basement and shit like that

They have a name which I invented when I was 12 for my dog epic

Talmnbout dang ol dog epic.
It was a collection of stories about 4 dogs: Rex, Boof, Naida and Anton.
Rex: 12000 year old dog (very long lived), an hobbyist astronaut and a crippling alcoholic. Lives in a commieblock.
Boof: Rex's friend, main drinking buddy and helper for Rex's space flights. Also an alcoholic. Lives near the dumpster in a washing machine. Not a regular washing machine - it has extremely many functions. Sort of a super-gadget. Also, he herds flies like bees and collects "fly honey", which is various grease and residue from flies' legs that collects on the walls of fly house.
Naida: just a dog. She hails from a dog clan that lives under a house on pillars, but she moved away due to unknown reasons, but her mom still visits her occasionally. Married to Anton and lives with him in a large dog pen. Drinks in moderation.
Anton: A huge dog. Young and strong, a bit rowdy. Drinks cognac and brandy. Works as a flight attendant. Lives together with Naida.

Dog status as of 2025:
Rex: allegedly died on the Moon due to rocket malfunction.
Boof: supposedly died from alcoholism.
Anton and Naida: apparently emigrated to Canada

Fun Rex fact: he had a weird elbow thumb. Reportedly, it grew after he drank rocket fuel after running out of booze

Rex also had a phone number and we used to call him sometimes when we couldn't visit him in person. His phone number was "7-7-7-pepper"

But I know the feeling, there is a great Latino coffee shop which makes amazing cafe cubano (best in the city), El Salvadorian tamales, Argentinian choripan, etc. for great prices

I normally get their cafe de olla bc it comes with refill

BUT they recently bought a big ass couch which obscures so many of the charging outlets which was the main reason I went there all the time (I refuse to buy another battery for my laptop)

They used to have old soviet furniture, old books and stuff like that, it was calm and quiet. The most common customer were the lo-fi girls just studying. It was freauented by quiet people with taste. If you insist on using the word hipster which I don't really agree with (hipster is a millenial archetype and this place used to be for zoomers), I would are least specify "calm and quiet hipster chud"
Now it is tailored for loud nouveau riche 30 year old hipsters

there used to be a very relaxing spot to sit and think on the quiet side of my city's downtown. it was a brick staircase that surrounded a fountain sculpture on three sides. rich cunts demolished it, probably moved the sculpture to a warehouse and built five story apartment buildings on top, $3,000 a month.

I think we had a discussion about this exact thing before. Yeah my Latino coffee shop was very much populated by students, people reading, smoking on the patio, very quiet besides the salsa on the radio. It's in an old house (probably from the 40s or so) so a lot of the old wood and everything is preserved

But times must change anon, I just hope this place doesn't repaint or else I'll jump ship to the Greek coffeeshop (unfortunately more millennial-esque) or the Italian one (cold and sterile but excellent food)
