You cant touch a "nation". Its pure abstraction. It doesnt exist outside the mythological realm in which they inhabit. There are classes and their interests, those do exist in the material world. I can identify with a fellow industrial worker from Brazil or Uganda because he like me also needs to sell his workforce to some capitalist in order to feed his family. But how can I identify to the boss that employ us, who only show up to collect its dividends? Should I empathize with him obly because we share the same flag?
