Nah. There was nothing to bomb in North Vietnam that would have affected their war effort. They had zero industrial capacity or military infrastructure that mattered in that sense. The entire North Vietnamese army was literally underground & they would do anything to avoid what happened in Korea i.e. a ceasefire/deal to lead to a permanent split of the country. Short of dropping a nuclear bomb over and over and over, there was nothing the US could do except clear out every tunnel & underground fortress. That would have literally taken 30+ more years on top of the 20 years we were already there. Vietnam was the most un-winnable war in history unless we dropped the bomb. Even then there wouldn't have been a point because the North Vietnamese would have still never surrendered & there is no point in nuking a country to where it becomes uninhabitable, especially if they aren't an existential threat to the US.
