Did any of your ancestors fight in wars in your country?
My ancestor came to the US from Germany and initially settled in Indiana but then started working as a boatman up and down the Mississippi River; he was in New Orleans when the Civil War broke out and he was drafted into the Confederate Army and fought at Shiloh. His brothers stayed in Indiana and fought for the Union.

I don't know much, they never really talked about it. The only thing I know is that one was in the navy searching for mines or something, and the other was a radio operator on a plane

Navy toil always seemed rough 2 me, maybe a regular ship could be OK but I'd rather storm Normandy beach 1000 times than set foot on a U-boat

My grampa fought against Ecuador
Idk much about it, he was just levied peasant boy close to the border
Until very recent our one of our army's main methods of of filling its ranks was by capturing dirt poor illiterate countryside indians, pretty much illegal but there has never been an outcry about it

Both grandfathers: WW2, but non-combat roles
Paternal Great Great Grandfather: US Civil War as a 15 year old (Confederate recruiters weren't looking too hard at the documentation)
