This stems from the fact of close geographical proximity to the world largest ecomomy. Meaning the mexican bourgeoise has no alternative but to sunordinate.

Mexico is a capitalist democracy with many flaws, but a capitalist democracy nonetheless. As such is ruled by the army and the state, which is the tool of the capitalist class.

The narrative that "cartels" control the country has only benefited the army and the state which have increased their presence tenfold in regions where once local communities governed

The more power you give to the capitalist state the more violent the country has become. This is the recolonization of the internal colonies. Its the capitalist mexican state consolidating its control over the mexican population, many of which were operating outside the capitalist circuit (making homemade products, growing their own crops, or simply living on top or mineral rich land etc)
