not sure if consumption is everything that matters about culture. We're completely bathed in american culture and yet are far closer to our neighbours than to americans

We're closest to Australians really
Then the Dutch
Maybe after that the Canadians
Then Americans (depends on state, Washington State then New England, then maybe Nebraska and those, California obviously last)
French
Then German
Gets all foggy after that. But Kiwis are fairly distant

It's the Irish themselves who profess this strongest, Cody
Not that you'd ever say it to them. Because you're scared of them

Our entire government is based on the ideas of 17th century radical English liberals. American high society was very anglophilic up till ~1945, and so many cultural forms. Our schools and education systems are copied form Yankee puritans who brought them over form England. Hard for me to say beyond that; but US Anglo culture is so hybridized that it doesn't have a particularly strong affinity to any other single source.

We don't consider then a separate nationality tbqh. Anglo Canadians are about as dissimilar from the mean Anglo American as different regions of the US are from each other.
