>>212002784 (OP)I am an unapologetic phoneposter more often than not; I use a second-hand iPhone 11. When I went in to buy it (to replace the broken iPhone 11 I got new with my phone contract back when it was closer to modern—I think the 12 had just come out at the time) the little shop teenager struggled to understand that I didn’t want something newer. I didn’t, because I didn’t give a shit. The mania for having the newest model of everything and chucking it every nine months for the latest version disgusts me.
My laptop is similarly venerable—I think I got it seven years ago at this point. But it’s actually dying, so I’ll be upgrading to something new within a few months. Whatever I get to replace it will be economical and fairly basic, and I will hold on to it until it dies. I don’t game, I don’t code, and I’m not interested in showing off, so my needs are modest.
