>>212008256 Walmarts are the rural/suburban but also feel third world.
Only time I went to one recently there were multiple people arguing with the security guards. I exclusively patronize Publix/Whole Foods/Trader Joes for groceries and Target for supermarket things now.
>>212008226 (OP) it's because you live in a multi ethnic 3rd world shithole. it's doesn't help either that you legalized shoplifting because it'd be racist to tell Shaniqua to put those Hennessy bottles down.

>>212008226 (OP) American status anxiety is so funny because they don't realize how embarrassing is it to witness. In the rest of the world it is not a big deal to be just a regular guy but having visible status anxiety is deeply embarrassing. In the US it seems to be the exact other way around.
>>212008226 (OP) I used Aldi in Spain. The entrance could not be opened from the inside and there was a guard standing at the exit. The reason for this was to watch for customers who leave without shopping. That was not the case in other Spanish supermarkets or Carrefour. Is this a German fetish or something?
>>212009029 They have the same owner but they're nothing alike. Trader Joes positions themselves in high education areas and targets young middle class shoppers. Trader Joes also has maximum space efficiency, a departure from many other American supermarkets. Aldi positions themselves in the lowest income areas.
>>212008844 >stores having security guards here, only the biggest Tescos have security personnel, but only because they have ATMs inside store perimeters, not because of rampant shoplifting. I haven't seen any in regular food stores because they aren't needed. maybe you people are the problem.
>>212008226 (OP) The Aldis i have been to have all been clean, organized, fully staffed, and pleasant. Don't you dare compare them to D*llar G*neral. Those shitty stores are left understaffed by as little as 1 employee for the whole store sometimes, and they have little time to clean or restock.

Not a huge fan of Aldi because they don't tend to carry the stuff I'm looking for if it's more than just basic ingredients or boxed processed stuff. I also tend to not have coins on me because I always give them to elderly people in the parking lot who need them kek

>>212009023 >>212008966 As I recall it was Lidl, not Aldi. Apparently there are stores of this type in UK too.
>New security measures have been introduced at some UK stores, including a one-way barrier at the exit. Customers must scan a barcode on their receipt at the self-checkout before they can leave the store and signs above the checkouts warn customers to keep their receipt to operate the exit gates.
>>212009181 Not the same owner, one is Aldi south and the other is aldi north, which are separate

>>212010136 Here aldi is a tad more expensive than Lidl. I remember being in Berlin and shopping in another discounter but I can't remember it's name, it looked a bit more run down, could it be an Edeka?
>>212008226 (OP) Same reason they had to close all their stores in denmark, no one wanted to shop there. The store looks so shitty, but the prices aint that lower compared to other stores.

They recently added a tiny little clear computer-controlled gate at the exit to the self checkouts. I guess the store is "transit lobby" themed.
