Chess is stupid anyways. There are a lot of rules that make no sense. For example, en passant is just completely random. Also, trapping the opponent's king such that it cannot make any more moves results in a draw??? Like wtf, that should mean you win.
Gay ass game.

In chaturanga, Indian chess, your bishop and rook could only move 4 squares too. And pawns cant move 2 squares either.

It's a draw because the king is not under attack from any of the opponent's pieces but can't move to any other space because he'd be u der attack if he moved to them. Hope that clears it up. Yes I suppose it sucks but it's just another aspect of the game, you gotta be careful with how you move your pieces in the endgame so your opponent doesn't force a draw when he's losing

Yeah no shit, and I'm saying that's a stupid concept. If I trap the opponent's king on the battlefield but nobody is currently stabbing him, that's still a win.

The chess that everyone plays was invented in like, spain or italy though. Indian chess sucked. The queen only moved one square diagonally, and the bishops moved by jumping exactly two squares diagonally. Because of how weak the pieces were, it was almost impossible to checkmate your opponent, so the most common winning condition was capturing all of your opponent's pieces.

>en passant is just completely random
No
Pawns could previously only move one square. This made openers needlessly slow, so the ability to move two squares was added to speed things up. En Passant exists so that moving twice doesn't let you avoid vulnerable positions, since the double move was only intended to speed things up and not protect pawns.
it might be a stupid rule, but it isn't random
