Its easier if you have other moba experience, have a few friends that switched from lel, but in general, you need at least like 500 hours to get a BASIC grasp of the game if you start from scratch... If i havent played DOTA for literally 20 years at this point, I just dont see how I could just randomly get into it today. And the game gets even more bloated and bloated with every new patch, adding more new interactions, mechanics, heroes expanding the map, etc.
But its very rewarding if you do put the time in it, the highs of the game are like in non other
But you dont need to get overwhelmed from all the heroes tb h, having a small pool of like 5-10 heroes initially, maybe 2 for each position is a good starting point, until you've played enough games to start learning what every other hero does by simply playing against them
