Why are music and cartoons so normalized in Muslim countries even though they are clearly haram because there are multiple hadiths declaring them as sinful?

I tried to tell some Muslim girls that anime and KPop were haram and they were very upset and kept insisting that it's not haram, and also pointing back the accusations at me because I am "not perfect" and have no right to judge others.

I have started sincerely studying the Qur'an and Sahih al-Bukhari. I find there are so many problematic things that people just dismiss or do mental gymnastics to "reinterpret" them. What are the implications of this for societies in Muslim countries?

They are not, provided there's no glorifying syirik (idolatry) or maksiat (sin) in them. Those who believe every image is haram are among the minority. E.g., you can show the Israelites worshipping cows in a movie as long as it is clear you are not promoting such practices. Regarding anime, a lot of it can be haram if they have ecchi or hentai scenes.

Adherents of any religion say that about themselves. I’m Mormon and I feel like it’s actually true about ourselves, people will use ring doorbell footage of 18 yr old missionaries telling jokes while waiting for someone to answer the door as proof mormons aren’t living up to their standards.
As for Muslims it seems to be a lot more true that Islam makes a big deal about its laws and disavowing hypocrites that don’t follow strictly.

yes but there's levels of authenticity of hadith and various interpretations depending on school/sect, it's not that straight forward
quran which is a text that everyone adheres to without question
for example your point about cartoons being haram is highly debatable, lots of imams permit it if it's not promoting something haram (like nudity, etc.), cartoons for kids are mostly seen as fine
music is more likely than not to be haram according to jurists, but it's also a contentious topic, with many figures permitting it, so I can understand why someone wouldn't believe it's haram
