He seems like a very lazy person with his work, paradoxically. He blobbed out in a chair with just an A and B camera for most of the prequel trilogy.

In old Star Wars documentaries he just seemed to be miserable actually having to work in the desert.

That said, I feel like he understands 12 year old boys and what 12 year olds find cool better than most adults. Despite all its flaws, kids did love the Prequels, kids did love Star Wars.
