I'll be honest, I don't know what Americans even mean by "Hispanic" or "white". Italians can look as dark as pic rel yet they're "white" but somehow Spaniards are an entirely different thing. Weird.
Spanish people exist in this strange wavelength, in which the US considers them HISPANIC but if a Spaniard tryes to get the gibs for hispanics he is not elligible.

These type of Spaniards are not white according to amerimutts.
Funny because we invented the "white" term, the blood cleansing (limpieza de sangre), the inquisition and the blue blood (sangre azul) concepts.
Anyways being "Spaniard" is going to be ridiculous since there are already 1.500.000 southamerican amerindian/mutts (with hundred of thousands of "Spanish" sons) just in Madrid alone.
Another nonwhite. A 1.95m tall blond blue eyed fully Spanish.
It would be funny to see a brown amerimutt at the passport control checking him and saying: "you are not white, you are hispanic mutt, fill the form without checking "white".

because they're just Spanish from the homeland. they're not receivers of Spanish culture, they're the origin. I wouldn't be surprised at all if government forms do this just to make Latinos feel better about themselves.

Hispanic in Spanish means "Belonging to or relating to Spain and Spanish-speaking countries and cultures". No clue what it means in Gringoland.

You just now got it? American "racial" classifications are nonsensical and it's embarrassing that the rest of the western countries are copying it

I dislike the word in general and don't think it should exist. there's Spanish people and then there's American Indians. if you think you're a cross between the two then you should identify as mixed race. but Latinos would never do that.
