The problem is that firsties have unrealistic expectations for "quality of life." I was middle class as a kid and both of my parents worked and we ate at home 6 days a week (pizza friday), they only bought two new cars over the course of 22 years, we lived in a smallish suburban home and only went on vacation once a year to neighboring states. Other millennials think for some stupid reason that they should be able to have kids and

Boomer parents are also a huge problem too, my parents explicitly stated they wouldn't watch my children unless they wanted to despite them leaving me with my severely mentally ill grandma and other relatives all the time.
