For small ones in residential streets, we call them roundabouts but for large multi lane ones that connect major roads, we call them traffic circles.

IIRC it's regional dialect here, New England calls them rotaries but everywhere else calls them roundabouts

I like how everyone just has their own unique approach when confronted with a problem that they've never encountered before, no one actually crashes, and life goes on, sort of. I thought that the whole reason why gay commie civil engineers liked roundabouts so much is because they inherently lower speed and thus reduce accidents.

Actually, the presence of the red median/paint elements goes a long way toward explaining the confusion. if two concurrent vehicles both need to turn right, what are they supposed to do.
