Some random observations

>A lot of them are indeed white, however, like 75% of them are on the spectrum of brown/black
>Most of them are very kind and SOVLFUL, way more than Europeans (assholes).
>Brazilians are very attractive and live very active lifestyles, lots of cyclists/runners, lots of gyms, saw no overweight people except 50 year old men.
>Brazilian food is kind of bland, however, their drinks and pastries are some of the best I've ever had.
>Driving in Sao Paulo is hell and motorcyclists all have a death wish
>Rio de Janeiro smells like pee and has a lot of homeless, it's still way better than American shitholes like Portland however
>The highways between SP and RJ are some of the most well maintained I've seen in Latin America
>The beaches between SP and RJ are way cleaner, less populated, and more scenic than the ones in RJ.
>Food and clothes is stupid cheap
>Most tourists in Brazil were other South Americans
>Sao Paulo is considered the most developed city in Brazil, however, there isn't actually much to do/see there as a tourist.
>Every other country on earth could disappear and Brazil would be fine since they produce almost everything domestically. Walking through Brazilian markets, almost every consumer product is made a Brazilian company.
>Brazil has a ton of Brazil-exclusive car models from popular international car brands like Ford or Fiat.
>The stretch of land from Sao Sebastiao to Paraty is god's own country, the most beautiful and serene place on earth.

depends where you went in rio
some parts in the south zone of the city and in the center are indeed like this but my neighborhood isn't like that
>>The beaches between SP and RJ are way cleaner, less populated, and more scenic than the ones in RJ.
you probably just went to the tourist trap beaches like copacabana
rio has a lot of better and less populated beaches through the city
i prefer the ones near barra da tijuca where i live for example
the fact is that brazil is a fucking huge country and not even brazilians know much about their own cities let alone about all the different states and regions

I'm fluent in Spanish and learned Portuguese on and off for a few months before. However, by "learned" I mean duolingo and listening to Brazilian music. Since I speak both Spanish and English the language was not an issue at all.

I was there for 10 days. I landed in Sao Paulo, stayed one night there, then rented a car to drive to Sao Paulo. I stayed two nights in Sao Sebastiao and one night in Paraty (both are coastal towns between Sao Paulo and Rio). I stayed 4 nights in Rio, Copacabana specifically. I spent maybe like $2500 in total including plane ticket, care rental, lodging, food, souvenirs/clothes, etc.

to drive to Rio*

On my 2nd to last day I drove back to Sao Paulo from Rio in a single session. If you leave early you can avoid Rio traffic, however the traffic in Sao Paulo was god awful.

That was my experience in the historical center of Rio (especially the area around the Escadaria Selarón). Copacabana was full of homeless people as well. I didn't really visit other sections of the city cause I was only there for four days.

i can't decide exactly what to recommend right now (maybe leblon or barra da tijuca) i just know that i'm not a fan of the center of rio and copacabana
but at least you visited paraty which i like too (the neighboring cities like trindade and others that i forgot the name of are also cool)
buzios and petropolis are others cities that also like in the rio state but since you've already been here maybe it's better you go to santa catarina next time

Nta, but the botanic garden (and parque lage next to it) are nice if you like nature. Santa Teresa is kinda tourist trap but is a nice bohemian neighborhood. For museums there's the CCBB and MAM Tbh Rio is a kinda tourist trap city in general, you need to befriend the right local to find out about the good stuff. If you have the right contacts there are free parties every day in the most random places. I like going to off season carnival rehearsals since they are free and less crowded than the actual carnival.

Perfect climate, empty and pristine beaches. perfectly-sized towns (not too big, but not too small), lots of islands close to the coast that are easy to travel to, inland is full of beautiful green hills/lakes/rivers and atlantic forest.
