I've been hanging out with an usonian today and he kept referring to everything here (restaurants, shoppes, grocery stores, gas stations) as "Americana"
I googled it but I don't quite get it can someone from the US please explain ?

Is it just like "rustic" or something similar ?

americana is an artistic and literary genre, things like r&b or bluegrass, apple pie, it basically covers from anywhere from the post-war to 1980s, think of it like twin peaks visuals
it's a stupid term since it's so illusive, no one uses it seriously
