Marriage is supposed to create some security for a domestic partner and future children. It's the entire point. The way it works now is the opposite. It's almost better to not get married in many countries because divorce is the more attractive option (for women) and adultery isn't even punished. The most successful relationships with children I know the couples are unmarried

They usually don't start plotting on taking half your shit until down the line when the lust/romance fades and the real work begins. The marriage as an institution or "signed contract" between two people has been so degraded and disrespected through reality and media that anyone can file for divorce and it's done. People nowadays aren't treating marriage as the last step of the evolution of a relationship, it's become sort-of entry-level, so the whole thing is almost pointless.

And if he likes her more he just leaves you and your kids to go with her and provide for his child with her.
