It baffles me how a tiny soulless city state like Singapore receives something like 20 million tourists annually, while rich, historically interesting, UNESCO Heritage approved Derbent with stunning natural vistas only receive about 300 thousand annual tourism, most of them domestic. Why is humanity so inefficient? Imagine if the resources poured into the promotion of Singapore as SE Asian tourism magnet allocated into Derbent instead? It can also have the side effect of culturally elevating humanity through history instead of vapid consumerism.
Why are you jealous? Do you wish they went to Indonesia instead, i thought they got enough tourists? Even me as a Norwegian has been to Borobudur and Bali, even Surabaya hehe. I liked Singa, but it felt soulless compared to Indonesia.

But alas, the city must be associated with the fall of the British Empire, Britain's Manzikert if you will, because a POC wannabe imperial power started sperging out because the Americans won't sell them oil.
