Spain can't spend 5% of the GDP on the military because we are spending it in things that REALLY matter, like updating our traffic signs to be more inclusive and representative of modern Spain. Sorry USA and NATO!

we are talking about public budget
>publish an offer so you can get picked by the government (already overpriced)
>delay the delivery
>say that it's going to cost more than planned
>earn double the earnings compared that selling it to a private company
i hate the government

I don't think anyone even pretends to expect any country west of Germany/France to invest more than 1,5% of GDP on defence
It's gonna be the eastern flank + Scandinavia armed to the teeth, then Germany, UK, France acting as a backstop and then the rest (meds, balkans, benelux) being a dead weight
Either way, part of that 5% is 1,5% for infrastructure like railroads, airports, sea ports, arms manufacturing etc, I think it makes sense to invest in that even just from a perspective of own development

Dude those aren't even covered by NATO lmao. We used to let Russian subs dock in Ceuta and Melilla until the war happened as a form of indirect protest.
I mean some times I wonder what we even get out of NATO. Northern/Eastoid countries have refused for years to help with the massive influx of illegal immigrants to protect the (common) Mediterranean border. Particularly Poland. And now they ask us to increase our defense spending by an arbitrarily high amount of money that makes 0 sense (just because daddy said so) to counter Russia and to strengthen an organisation that doesn't even cover the territories that we own and are actually at risk (Ceuta, Melilla). I unironically live closer to Brazil and Israel than to fucking Russia lmao. What's even the point. Yeah we should be spending more in defense but 5% is ludicrous.
