I see it mentioned all the time online. We don't see it this way, Germany is our historical rival.

Figured it was a language thing. English being the lingua franca.

If you are talking about how French used to be the lingua franca and was replaced by English, literally nobody in France knows that, not a single soul

Maybe it's the same reason they don't like ireland, scotland, or wales. They're near each other but they're not english

British have a massive inferiority complex relating to the French and continental Europe for some reason. This is demonstrated by their strange attempts to distance themselves from the continent ranging from driving on the wrong side of the road, to brecit etc. What's funny is in the other hand they try to emulate european culture, french cuisine, changing pronunciation of words like aluminum to sound more latin. They pronounce filet as fill-et thoughbeit, very strange culture

I wish to apologize to all our German friends. French-German enmity lasted barely a century 1850-1940 and in the middle-ages there was no French-German rivalry heard of despite nearly 1.000 km of shared linguistic border.
On the other hand France and England fought over 40 Anglo-French wars since 1066 (included). My dad was in the navy (military service) during the Falklands war and when a British frigate was sunk they all kinda cheered on board although France and Britain are officially allied, that would not have happened if a German frigate was sunk.

Very french of you to assume that fashion is all of culture. Anyway, french is a culture entirely devoid of masculinity so it makes sense that they wouldn't have organically come up with any alternative to the suit. Maybe it takes a deep understanding of british culture to see how they view themselves as inferior to the French. Historically it makes sense with the upper class in England being french in origin. You can obviously see it in their one-sided rivalry with France, to your credit or maybe the other frog's it doesn't seem to be reciprocated at all by France

Did you know that during the Crimean War, the British and French were allies against Russia. However, the British generals kept referring to their French counterparts as "the enemy". In early WWII, the French government proposed to merge with the British Empire and recognise the British King as their Monarch just before the Germans reached Paris, but such is the hatred of the Brits against the French that the Brits delayed giving an answer, so the French surrendered.
