Always been that way. Independence was really just a bunch of rich people complaining about taxes. It goes back all the way to our founding.

in the 1960s the american labor movement was destroyed by a simultaneous takeover of labor-unions by the mafia and a backlack against socialism due to the cold war. there is today no labor movement in american thought. every worker works to feed himself or to become a CEO, there is no consideration of solidarity between coworkers. every workplace is a crab bucket.
