Right now I'd say only the top 5% or so of earners under the age of 35 can afford to live on their own. But if you have a gf then you probably get a shitty studio apartment together.

Moving out just for the sake of it is a waste of money, unless you desperately want your own place. You can help your parents while living with them and save the money you make to put into investments. This is far better than putting a mortgage around your neck or financing a landlord's next holiday.
